Oregon grape (Mahonia aquifoilium)

Oregon grape (Mahonia aquifoilium) is a species of plant that belongs to the family Berberidaceae, native to the western part of North America. Oregon grape is an evergreen shrub that grows up to about 3 feet high and 5 feet wide. In early spring, this plant will produce clusters of yellow flowers and then dark bluish berries.

Oregon grape extract (derived from the root of the plant) has been found to be successful supporting and balancing the skin. This amazing root has blood cleansing effects and has been shown to help for skin disorders. Some Native American tribes would also use this medicinal herb to help with digestive balance. The phytochemicals present in Oregon grape extract have natural anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties.
